uPVC Windows Installation

A first-floor flat in Watford required a full set of replacement windows. The existing timber frames were rotting, draughty, and single-glazed, leading to high energy bills and noticeable condensation issues. The residents also endured significant noise penetration from the surrounding streets. The goal was to install energy-efficient, low-maintenance uPVC windows that would improve thermal comfort, reduce noise, and enhance the flat’s overall appearance while respecting its period character.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed high-performance white uPVC double-glazed windows throughout the flat. The solution included:

• A-rated double glazing with argon gas fill and low-E coating for superior insulation
• Acoustic-enhanced glass for front-facing rooms to reduce street noise
• Side-hung casement openings with concealed friction hinges
• Multi-point locking systems with anti-snap cylinders and security handles
• Trickle vents to reduce condensation and improve indoor air quality
• Georgian bar inserts to retain the period character of the flat
• White profiles to blend seamlessly with the existing aesthetic
• Matching sills, trims, and hardware for a cohesive finish

Installation Process

• Carried out pre-installation survey with laser measurements for each opening
• Removed old timber windows carefully to preserve brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
• Inspected and prepared lintels, reveals, and sills
• Installed new uPVC frames using galvanised fixings and expanding foam
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into each frame
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for full weatherproofing
• Adjusted all hinges, handles, and locking mechanisms for smooth operation
• Cleaned all glass, frames, sills, and surrounding areas thoroughly
• Conducted final walkthrough to confirm satisfaction
