Project Overview
A private residential property in Milton Keynes required a new rear entrance door to replace an old, warped timber door that had become insecure and draughty. The homeowners wanted a sleek, modern solution that would withstand the elements, improve thermal efficiency, and complement the contemporary extension. The goal was to install a black aluminium door that offered durability, security, and a striking aesthetic.
Our Solution
We supplied and installed a bespoke black aluminium door tailored to the property’s rear elevation. The solution included:
- Slim-profile aluminium frame in matt black (RAL 9005) for a bold, modern look
- Thermally broken profiles to prevent heat loss and condensation
- Double-glazed unit with low-E coating and argon gas fill
- Multi-point locking system with anti-snap cylinder and security hinges
- Low-threshold cill for step-free garden access
- Matching black handles and hardware for a unified finish
- Concealed drop-down weather seal for superior draught protection
Installation Process
- Conducted precise laser measurement of the existing door opening
- Removed old timber door and frame carefully
- Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
- Inspected and prepared the structural opening, lintel, and sub-cill
- Lifted black aluminium door frame into position using precision packers
- Mechanically fixed the frame to the structure ensuring zero movement
- Hung the door slab on heavy-duty stainless steel hinges
- Fitted the double-glazed sealed unit into the door
- Installed multi-point locking mechanism and tested all locks and keys
- Applied internal and external silicone seals for airtight, watertight finish
- Adjusted hinges for perfect alignment and smooth closing action
- Completed thorough clean of door, frame, glass, and surrounding area
