Bi-Fold Door & Glass Roof

A rear extension in Finchley had been built with a solid flat roof and a standard patio door, leaving the space feeling dark and disconnected from the garden. The homeowners wanted to transform the area into a bright, modern living space. The goal was to install a bi-fold door alongside a glass roof to flood the extension with natural light and create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a bespoke aluminium bi-fold door paired with a glass roof system for the existing extension. The solution included:

• Five-panel aluminium bi-fold door with slim profiles for unobstructed garden views
• Bottom-mounted running gear for smooth, quiet folding operation
• Glass roof with thermally broken aluminium frames and double-glazed panels
• Self-cleaning glass option for the roof to reduce maintenance
• Low-threshold cill for step-free garden access
• Multi-point locking system with high-security handles
• Powder-coated finish in dark grey (RAL 7016) to match both elements
• Internal LED lighting integrated into the glass roof framework

Installation Process

• Conducted site survey and assessed the existing extension structure
• Removed old patio door and solid flat roof carefully
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
• Installed steel support beams to accommodate the new glass roof
• Fitted glass roof frame and secured to existing wall plates
• Lifted double-glazed roof panels into position and sealed all joints
• Installed bi-fold door frame using galvanised fixings and foam packers
• Hung each door panel and adjusted rollers for smooth folding action
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into all door panels
• Applied internal and external weather seals throughout
• Tested folding operation and locking mechanisms multiple times
• Integrated LED lighting into the roof framework
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, tracks, frames, and surrounding areas
