Bi-fold Doors Installation

A detached family home in Milton Keynes had recently completed a large rear extension to create an open-plan kitchen and living area. The existing French doors failed to make the most of the garden views and limited the connection between indoors and out. The goal was to install aluminium bi-fold doors to maximise natural light, provide effortless garden access, and create a stunning architectural focal point for the new extension.

• Thermally broken profiles for energy efficiency and condensation control
• Low-threshold cill for step-free garden access
• Multi-point locking system with high-security handles
• Double glazing with low-E coating and argon gas fill
• Powder-coated finish in dark grey (RAL 7016) to complement the extension’s exterior
• Concealed drop-down seals for superior weatherproofing
• Matching handles and hardware for a unified finish

Installation Process

• Conducted precise laser measurement of the extension opening
• Coordinated with the extension build schedule to ensure timely installation
• Checked structural lintel and floor levels for proper alignment
• Installed steel reinforcement where required for the bi-fold system
• Lifted aluminium bi-fold door frame into position using precision packers
• Mechanically fixed the frame to the new masonry and timber studwork
• Hung each door panel and adjusted bottom rollers for perfect alignment
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into all panels
• Installed multi-point locking mechanism and tested all locking points
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for airtight, watertight finish
• Tested folding and sliding operation across all panels multiple times
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, tracks, frames, and surrounding areas
