Composite Door Installation

A residential property in Watford required a new front door to replace an old, weathered timber door that had swollen, stuck frequently, and allowed cold air to pour into the hallway. The homeowners wanted a secure, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance solution with a modern aesthetic. The goal was to install a composite door with an anthracite grey exterior to enhance kerb appeal and a white interior to match the hallway decor.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a premium composite front door with a dual-colour finish. The solution included:

• High-density polyurethane foam core for excellent insulation and structural rigidity
• Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) outer skin resistant to fading, warping, and cracking
• External finish in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) for a sleek, modern kerb appeal
• Internal finish in white (RAL 9010) to seamlessly blend with the hallway
• Traditional panel design with decorative obscured double-glazed panels
• Five-point multi-point locking system with anti-snap cylinders
• Stainless steel hinges and a concealed letterbox with brush draught seal
• Matching anthracite grey handles and hardware on the exterior
• White handles and hardware on the interior for a cohesive finish
• Compressible foam gasket around the entire frame for airtight sealing

Installation Process

• Conducted precise measurement of the existing door opening
• Removed old timber front door and frame carefully
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
• Inspected and prepared the structural opening, lintel, and sub-cill
• Installed new composite door frame using galvanised fixings and expanding foam
• Lifted the composite door slab into position and hung on stainless steel hinges
• Fitted the double-glazed decorative panels into the door
• Installed multi-point locking mechanism and tested all locks and keys
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for full weatherproofing
• Adjusted hinges for perfect alignment and smooth closing action
• Completed thorough clean of door, frame, glass, handles, and surrounding area
