Homeowners in St Albans wanted to replace the tired, white uPVC windows on their 1930s semi-detached house. The existing frames had warped, causing draughts and condensation between the glass panes. The goal was to install black aluminium windows to give the property a contemporary facelift while improving thermal performance and street appeal.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed bespoke black aluminium windows across the front and side elevations. The solution included:

• Slim-profile black frames (RAL 9005) for a bold, modern look
• Thermally broken profiles to eliminate cold bridging and condensation
• Double-glazed units with low-E coating and argon gas fill
• Side-hung casement openings with concealed friction hinges
• Multi-point locking mechanisms for enhanced security
• Matching black handles and hardware for a unified finish

Installation Process

• Carried out full site survey with laser measurements of all openings
• Removed existing uPVC windows carefully to preserve brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of all old frames and glass responsibly
• Checked and prepared lintels, reveals, and sills
• Lifted black aluminium frames into position using precision packers
• Mechanically fixed frames to the structure ensuring zero movement
• Spray-foamed all perimeter gaps and applied internal/external silicone seals
• Installed double-glazed sealed units into each frame
• Adjusted all hinges and handles for smooth operation
• Completed thorough clean of glass, frames, and surrounding areas
