New Conservatory Installation

A detached family home in Barnet required a new conservatory to create additional living space and a seamless connection to the garden. The homeowners wanted a versatile, light-filled room that could be used year-round for dining and relaxation. The goal was to install a bespoke conservatory that would complement the property’s architecture, maximise natural light, and deliver exceptional thermal performance, transforming an underused outdoor area into a functional and inviting living space.

Our Solution

We designed and installed a bespoke conservatory tailored to the property’s rear elevation. The solution included:

• Conservatory Style: A classic Edwardian-style conservatory with a pitched glass roof, providing a spacious and elegant feel
• Frame: High-performance uPVC or aluminium frames in a finish chosen to complement the property’s exterior
• Glazing: Double-glazed units with low-E coating and argon gas fill for superior thermal efficiency
• Roof: Pitched glass roof with self-cleaning glass option for reduced maintenance
• Dwarf Walls: Brick dwarf walls to match the existing property brickwork, ensuring a seamless aesthetic
• Flooring: Insulated concrete base with underfloor heating capability
• Electrics: Integrated lighting, heating, and power points throughout
• Internal Finish: Plastered internal walls and ceiling with a smooth, painted finish

Installation Process

• Conducted initial site survey and 3D CAD design consultation to finalise the conservatory layout and specifications
• Confirmed that the project fell under permitted development rights (subject to size and location) and liaised with Building Control where required
• Marked out the conservatory footprint on the ground and excavated trenches for foundations
• Laid footings to the required depth (minimum 450mm) and poured a concrete base
• Installed block and beam flooring with insulation
• Built brick dwarf walls to match the existing property brickwork
• Assembled the conservatory frame and installed the roof system
• Fitted double-glazed glass panels and sealed all joints
• Installed guttering and applied lead or aluminium flashing for weatherproof sealing
• Completed internal plastering and decoration
• Installed electrics, lighting, and heating systems
• Conducted final clean of all glass, frames, and surrounding areas
