Homeowners in the quiet village of Bedmond, approached us with a clear goal: to replace their outdated, draughty sliding patio doors with a stylish, secure, and energy-efficient alternative. They wanted to maximise the natural light in their living room while creating a seamless transition to their garden.
The existing opening was non-standard, and the property’s 1970s brickwork required careful handling. Our mission was to install a premium Schuco French Door system—known for its slim sightlines and German engineering—without compromising the structural integrity of the home or the aesthetic of the living space.
Our Solution
After a detailed site survey, we recommended the Schuco ASS 70 FD French Door system. Here is why it was the perfect fit for the customers:
- Thermal Efficiency: The Schuco system features advanced thermal break technology. Given Bedmond’s chilly winters, this door keeps heat in and cold out, helping M&P reduce their energy bills.
- Security: We fitted the door with multi-point locking mechanisms (RC2 security rating). M&P now have peace of mind, especially when away on holiday.
- Design & Light: The ultra-slim aluminium frames maximise the glass area, offering an unobstructed view of their well-kept garden.
- Low Maintenance: Unlike their old wooden-framed door, this aluminium finish will not warp, peel, or fade.
Custom touch: We matched the external powder-coated colour to clients’ existing window trimsand installed a low-threshold profile for easy wheelchair access (future-proofing the home).
Installation Process
We completed the project in just two days with minimal disruption to customer’s daily routine.
Day 1 – Removal & Preparation
- Carefully removed the old sliding doors and disposed of them responsibly.
- Inspected the structural lintel and brickwork. (We discovered minor rot in the sub-cill, which we treated immediately).
- Prepared the opening to Schuco’s exact millimetre-perfect specifications.
Day 2 – Fitting & Finishing
- Lifted the new Schuco French Door into place using precision foam packers.
- Mechanically fixed the frame to the structure (ensuring zero movement).
- Spray-foamed all gaps, installed the internal and external trims, and applied a high-performance weather seal.
- Final adjustments: aligned the two door leaves for a perfect ‘lock and close’ action.
Clean up: Full site clean, including magnetic sweeping for metal shavings and wiping down all glass.
