Schüco Aluminium Sash Windows

A period detached house in Barnet required a window upgrade that would preserve its traditional character while delivering modern performance. The existing timber sash windows were draughty, single-glazed, and difficult to operate. The homeowners wanted a premium solution that would replicate the classic sash aesthetic with the benefits of aluminium technology. The goal was to install Schüco aluminium sash windows in black to create a striking contrast against the brickwork while providing superior thermal efficiency, noise reduction, and security.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed Schüco AWS 70 aluminium sash windows in matt black (RAL 9005) throughout the property. The solution included:

• Thermally broken profiles to eliminate cold bridging and condensation

• Schüco multi-point locking system with SecuTech handles
• Concealed trickle vents for compliant ventilation

Installation Process

• Carried out detailed pre-installation survey and measured each window opening
• Removed original timber sash windows carefully to preserve brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of old frames, weights, and glass responsibly
• Inspected and repaired existing box frames where necessary
• Installed steel reinforcement where required for the Schüco system
• Lifted black aluminium sash window frames into position using precision packers
• Mechanically fixed frames to the structure ensuring zero movement
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into both upper and lower sashes
• Attached spiral balances and tested smooth sliding operation
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for weatherproofing
• Adjusted all locking mechanisms, restrictors, and tilt-in functions
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, frames, sills, and surrounding areas
