Schüco Aluminium Windows Installation

A large detached family home in Barnet required a complete window upgrade across two levels. The existing timber and uPVC windows were mismatched, draughty, and detracted from the property’s elegant appearance. The homeowners wanted a premium, cohesive solution in white that would offer superior thermal performance, noise reduction, and a timeless aesthetic. The goal was to install Schüco windows throughout, including bay windows on both ground and first floors, sliding windows, and casement windows, all finished in white.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a bespoke Schüco AWS 70 window system in white (RAL 9010) featuring multiple opening styles. The solution included:

Bay Windows (Two Levels):

• Rectangular bay windows on ground and first floors with large central fixed panes and side casement openings
• Bespoke aluminium cills and roof canopies to match the period exterior
• Thermally broken profiles to eliminate cold bridging and condensation

Sliding Windows:

• Schüco AWS 70 sliding windows for the rear elevation (bedrooms and living areas)
• Smooth, space-saving sliding operation with concealed rollers

Casement Windows:

• Side-hung casement windows throughout with concealed friction hinges
• Tilt-and-turn options for first-floor bedrooms for safe ventilation

All Windows Included:

• Double-glazed units with low-E coating and argon gas fill
• Schüco multi-point locking mechanisms with SecuTech handles
• White powder-coated finish (RAL 9010) throughout for a unified look
• Matching white sills, trims, and hardware

Installation Process

• Carried out full site survey with laser measurements of all openings across both levels
• Removed existing mismatched windows carefully to preserve brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of all old frames and glass responsibly
• Installed steel reinforcement brackets to support the bay window assemblies
• Lifted Schüco bay window frames (ground floor) into position using precision packers
• Lifted Schüco bay window frames (first floor) into position with scaffold access
• Installed sliding window frames and casement window frames to remaining openings
• Mechanically fixed all frames to the structure ensuring zero movement
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into all windows (bay, sliding, and casement)
• Installed sliding window rollers and tested smooth operation
• Adjusted all casement and tilt-and-turn hinges for smooth operation
• Spray-foamed all perimeter gaps and applied internal/external silicone seals
• Fitted bay window cills and roof canopies with weatherproof seals
• Adjusted all locks, handles, and hinges for perfect operation
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, frames, and surrounding areas
