Schüco Bay Window Installation

A detached property in Barnet featured an original timber bay window that had deteriorated over time, with rotting frames, single glazing, and noticeable draughts. The owners wanted to retain the classic bay window shape while upgrading to a premium, energy-efficient solution. The goal was to install a bespoke Schüco bay window that would enhance kerb appeal, improve thermal performance, and provide lasting durability.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a bespoke Schüco AWS 70 bay window system designed to match the existing bay opening. The solution included:

• Schüco AWS 70 slim-profile aluminium frames in dark grey (RAL 7016) for a clean, traditional appearance
• A three-section bay design with a large central fixed pane and side-hung casement openings on both sides
• Thermally broken profiles to eliminate cold bridging and condensation
• Double-glazed units with low-E coating and argon gas fill
• Multi-point locking mechanisms with Schüco SecuTech handles
• A bespoke aluminium cill and roof canopy to complete the external finish
• Concealed friction hinges for clean exterior lines

Installation Process

• Conducted precise laser measurement of the existing bay window opening
• Removed old timber bay window and frame carefully to preserve brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
• Inspected and repaired the bay floor, lintel, and surrounding structure
• Installed steel reinforcement brackets to support the new aluminium bay
• Lifted the Schüco bay window frame assembly into position using precision packers
• Mechanically fixed the frame to the structure ensuring zero movement
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into all three sections
• Installed side casement windows and adjusted friction hinges for smooth operation
• Spray-foamed all perimeter gaps and applied internal/external silicone seals
• Fitted the aluminium cill and roof canopy with weatherproof seals
• Adjusted all locks, handles, and hinges for perfect operation
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, frames, and surrounding areas
