Schüco Glazing Wall & Door

A retail shop unit in Kensington required a complete shopfront upgrade to create a bright, welcoming entrance and a stronger street presence. The existing frontage was dated, poorly insulated, and offered limited visibility into the store. The business owners wanted a premium full-glazing solution that would maximise natural light, showcase the interior, improve security, and present a high-end appearance befitting the Kensington location. The goal was to install a Schüco aluminium glazing wall and matching entrance door with full glazing, delivering a sleek, contemporary shopfront with commercial-grade durability and performance.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a bespoke Schüco aluminium glazing wall and entrance door system tailored to the shop unit. The solution used Schüco AWS 70 profiles for the fixed glazing wall and a Schüco commercial entrance door, both finished in a hardwearing powder-coated colour agreed with the client. The specification included:

• Full-height Schüco aluminium glazing wall with slim profiles for maximum shopfront visibility and natural light
• Schüco commercial entrance door with full glazing to match the surrounding glazing wall
• Thermally broken aluminium profiles to improve energy efficiency and reduce condensation
• Double-glazed sealed units with low-E coating and argon gas fill, plus toughened safety glass where required
• Laminated or toughened glass to relevant safety standards for a commercial shopfront
• Commercial multi-point locking system with anti-snap cylinders and robust door hardware
• Heavy-duty stainless steel hinges and concealed door closer, suitable for frequent daily use
• Low-threshold access for step-free entry and compliance with accessibility requirements
• Toughened glass and safety manifestation where required for visibility
• Matching aluminium cills, trims, and weather seals for a clean, weathertight finish
• Acoustic glazing options to reduce street noise and improve in-store comfort

Installation Process

• Conducted a detailed site survey with precision laser measurements of the shopfront opening
• Agreed the design, glazing specification, door configuration, and colour with the business owners
• Checked access arrangements and agreed working hours to minimise disruption to trading
• Reviewed any shopfront, conservation area, or advertising consent requirements with the client where applicable
• Removed the existing shopfront, door, and glazing carefully
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
• Inspected and prepared the structural opening, lintel, and threshold
• Installed steel reinforcement where required to support the glazing wall and door system
• Lifted the Schüco aluminium frame into position using precision packers and laser levels
• Mechanically fixed the frame to the structure, ensuring zero movement
• Installed the fixed glazing panels and secured glazing beads
• Hung the entrance door on heavy-duty stainless steel hinges and adjusted for smooth operation
• Fitted toughened double-glazed sealed units into all glazed sections
• Installed the commercial multi-point locking system, door closer, and all hardware
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for an airtight, watertight finish
• Adjusted the door for perfect alignment, closing action, and security
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, frames, handles, and surrounding areas
• Conducted a final walkthrough with the business owners and demonstrated operation and maintenance
