Schüco Window Installation

Homeowners in Brockley commissioned a new rear extension to their ground-floor flat. The extension was designed as a modern open-plan living space, but the original window specification did not meet the homeowners’ expectations for thermal performance or aesthetics. The goal was to install premium Schüco windows that would complement the contemporary architecture, maximise natural light, and deliver superior energy efficiency.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed Schüco AWS 70 aluminium windows throughout the new build extension. The solution included:

• Schüco AWS 70 slim-profile aluminium frames for clean, minimalist sightlines
• Thermally broken profiles to meet and exceed building regulations
• High-performance double glazing with low-E coating and argon gas fill
• Fixed picture windows to frame the garden view
• Side-hung casement openings for natural ventilation
• Powder-coated finish in dark grey (RAL 7016) to match the extension’s aluminium cladding
• Matching Schüco handles and hardware for a cohesive finish

Installation Process

• Conducted site survey and coordinated with the extension build timeline
• Confirmed all rough openings matched Schüco’s precise specifications
• Installed pre-fabricated steel support lintels where required
• Lifted Schüco AWS 70 frames into position using precision packers
• Mechanically fixed frames to the new masonry and timber studwork
• Spray-foamed all perimeter gaps with high-expansion insulation foam
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for airtight weatherproofing
• Installed double-glazed sealed units into each frame
• Adjusted all hinges and handles for smooth operation
• Completed thorough clean of glass, frames, and surrounding new plasterwork
