uPVC double-glazed windows

A Victorian terraced house in Hammersmith required replacement windows for the front elevation. The existing timber frames were rotting, draughty, and single-glazed, detracting from the property’s kerb appeal and allowing significant heat loss. The property features a classic rectangular bay window at the front. The goal was to install energy-efficient, low-maintenance white uPVC windows that would preserve the period character while improving thermal performance and security.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed high-performance white uPVC double-glazed windows specifically designed for the rectangular bay configuration. The solution included:

• White uPVC frames to match the Victorian exterior
• A rectangular bay window design with a large central fixed pane and side-hung casement openings on both sides
• A-rated double glazing with argon gas fill and low-E coating for superior insulation
• Georgian bar inserts to retain the traditional multi-pane appearance
• Multi-point locking systems with anti-snap cylinders and security handles
• Trickle vents concealed within the head rail for compliant ventilation
• Matching white sills, trims, and hardware for a seamless finish
• Reinforced frames for added strength and durability

Installation Process

• Carried out pre-installation survey with laser measurements of the rectangular bay opening
• Removed old timber bay windows carefully to preserve brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
• Inspected and prepared the bay floor, lintel, and surrounding structure
• Installed steel reinforcement brackets to support the new bay window
• Lifted the uPVC bay window frame assembly into position using precision packers
• Mechanically fixed the frame to the structure ensuring zero movement
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units with Georgian bars into all three sections
• Installed side casement windows and adjusted friction hinges for smooth operation
• Spray-foamed all perimeter gaps and applied internal/external silicone seals
• Fitted the uPVC cill and roof canopy with weatherproof seals
• Adjusted all locks, handles, and hinges for perfect operation
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, frames, and surrounding areas
