uPVC Windows Installation

A period conversion flat in Hammersmith still had its original single-glazed timber windows, which were draughty, rotten in places, and difficult to open. The residents also endured significant road noise from the nearby A4. The goal was to install energy-efficient, low-maintenance uPVC windows that would improve thermal comfort, reduce noise, and enhance the flat’s overall appearance.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed high-performance white uPVC double-glazed windows throughout the flat. The solution included:

• A-rated double glazing with argon gas fill for superior thermal efficiency
• Acoustic-enhanced glass for front-facing rooms to reduce traffic noise
• Side-hung casement openings with concealed friction hinges
• Multi-point locking systems with anti-snap cylinders
• Trickle vents to reduce condensation and improve indoor air quality
• Georgian bar inserts on upper sashes to retain period character
• White profiles to blend seamlessly with the Victorian aesthetic

Installation Process

• Carried out pre-installation survey with precise laser measurements for each opening
• Removed old timber windows carefully to avoid damage to brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly
• Inspected and prepared lintels, reveals, and sills
• Installed new uPVC frames using galvanised steel fixings and expanding foam
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into each frame
• Applied low-modulus silicone seals internally and externally for weatherproofing
• Adjusted all hinges, handles, and locking mechanisms for smooth operation
• Cleaned all glass, frames, and window boards thoroughly
• Conducted final walkthrough to confirm satisfaction
