uPVC Windows Installation

This semi-detached house in Watford required a full window replacement after the existing units had reached the end of their service life. The original frames were draughty, difficult to operate, and offered poor thermal performance, leaving several rooms cold in winter and prone to condensation. The owners wanted a low-maintenance, energy-efficient solution that would improve comfort and kerb appeal without compromising the property’s established character. The goal was to install uPVC windows throughout, improving thermal efficiency, security, and appearance while keeping maintenance to an absolute minimum.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed high-performance white uPVC double-glazed windows across the front and rear elevations. uPVC was chosen for its excellent thermal performance, low maintenance, and long service life. The solution included:

• White uPVC casement windows with side-hung openings and concealed friction hinges
• A-rated double glazing with argon gas fill and low-E coating for superior thermal insulation
• Thermally efficient multi-chambered uPVC profiles to reduce heat loss and prevent condensation
• Acoustic-enhanced glazing to front-facing rooms to reduce road noise
• Multi-point locking systems with anti-snap cylinders and security handles
• Trickle vents concealed within the frame head to reduce condensation and improve indoor air quality
• Georgian bar inserts to the front elevation to retain traditional character
• Reinforced frames for added strength, durability, and security
• Matching white sills, trims, and hardware for a cohesive finish

Installation Process

• Carried out a detailed pre-installation survey with precision laser measurements of every opening
• Confirmed window configurations, glazing specification, and finishes with the owners
• Protected internal floors and furnishings before work began
• Removed the existing windows carefully to preserve surrounding brickwork and internal plaster
• Disposed of all old frames and glass responsibly
• Inspected and prepared lintels, reveals, and sills
• Installed new uPVC frames using galvanised fixings and expanding foam
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into each frame
• Adjusted all hinges and locking mechanisms for smooth operation
• Fitted and tested multi-point locking systems on every window
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for airtight, watertight weatherproofing
• Cleaned all glass, frames, sills, and surrounding areas thoroughly
• Conducted a final walkthrough with the owners to confirm satisfaction
