A residential property in Hemel Hempstead had recently completed a rear extension to create an open-plan kitchen and dining area. The extension was built with basic window openings and a standard door, but the homeowners wanted a cohesive, high-performance glazing solution to maximise natural light and provide seamless garden access. The goal was to install uPVC windows and a matching patio door to transform the new space into a bright, comfortable, and energy-efficient living area.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a matching set of white uPVC windows and casement patio door tailored to the extension. The solution included:

uPVC Windows:

• White uPVC casement windows with side-hung openings and concealed friction hinges
• A-rated double glazing with argon gas fill and low-E coating
• Multi-point locking systems with anti-snap cylinders
• Trickle vents to reduce condensation and improve indoor air quality
• Matching white sills, trims, and hardware for a seamless finish

uPVC Patio Door:

• White uPVC casement patio door (French door style) with two side-hung opening panels
• A-rated double glazing with argon gas fill for superior thermal efficiency
• Multi-point locking system on the active door leaf with anti-snap cylinders
• Low-threshold cill for step-free garden access
• Matching white handles and hardware for a unified finish

Installation Process

• Conducted precise laser measurement of all openings in the new extension
• Coordinated with the extension build schedule to ensure timely installation
• Removed temporary boarding and prepared the structural openings
• Installed steel support lintels above larger window and door openings
• Lifted uPVC window frames into position using precision packers
• Lifted uPVC patio door frame into position using precision packers
• Mechanically fixed all frames to the new masonry and timber studwork
• Hung both patio door panels on stainless steel friction hinges
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into all windows and door panels
• Installed multi-point locking mechanism on the door and tested all locks
• Spray-foamed all perimeter gaps with high-expansion insulation foam
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for airtight, watertight finish
• Adjusted all hinges, handles, and locking mechanisms for smooth operation
• Completed thorough clean of all glass, frames, and surrounding areas
