uPVC Windows Replacement

A period conversion flat in Camden required a full set of replacement windows. The existing timber frames were severely deteriorated—rotting in places, difficult to operate, and single-glazed throughout—leading to significant heat loss, condensation, and high energy bills. The residents also endured persistent noise from the busy Camden streets below. The goal was to install energy-efficient, low-maintenance uPVC windows that would improve thermal comfort, reduce noise, and enhance the flat’s overall appearance while respecting its period character.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed high-performance white uPVC double-glazed windows throughout the flat. The solution included:

• A-rated double glazing with argon gas fill and low-E coating for superior thermal insulation
• Acoustic-enhanced glass for front-facing rooms to significantly reduce street noise
• Side-hung casement openings with concealed friction hinges for smooth operation
• Multi-point locking systems with anti-snap cylinders and security handles
• Trickle vents to reduce condensation and improve indoor air quality
• Georgian bar inserts to retain the period character of the Camden conversion
• White profiles to blend seamlessly with the building’s traditional aesthetic
• Matching white sills, trims, and hardware for a cohesive finish
• Reinforced frames for added strength and durability

Installation Process

• Carried out a detailed pre-installation survey with precision laser measurements for each opening
• Liaised with the freeholder and managing agent regarding access and any building restrictions
• Protected all internal floors, furnishings, and communal areas before work began
• Removed old timber windows carefully to preserve brickwork, stonework, and internal plaster
• Disposed of all waste materials responsibly, including controlled removal from the building
• Inspected and prepared lintels, reveals, and sills
• Installed new uPVC frames using galvanised fixings and expanding foam
• Fitted double-glazed sealed units into each frame
• Applied internal and external silicone seals for full weatherproofing
• Adjusted all hinges, handles, and locking mechanisms for smooth operation
• Cleaned all glass, frames, sills, and surrounding areas thoroughly
• Conducted a final walkthrough with the residents to confirm satisfaction
