Lean To Glass Roof

A residential property in Golders Green had a rear extension with a solid flat roof that made the kitchen and dining area feel dark and enclosed. The homeowners wanted to transform the space by introducing natural light while maintaining the existing extension structure. The goal was to install a lean-to glass roof in black to create a bold, contemporary aesthetic that would complement the property’s modern interior and exterior design.

Our Solution

We supplied and installed a premium lean-to glass roof system designed for the existing extension. The solution included:

• Thermally broken aluminium framework for energy efficiency and condensation control
• Double-glazed roof panels with low-E coating and argon gas fill
• Self-cleaning glass option for reduced maintenance
• Integrated gutter system to manage rainwater run-off
• Powder-coated finish in matt black (RAL 9005) for a striking, modern look
• Plastered internal reveals for a clean, finished look
• Optional LED lighting track integrated into the framework

Installation Process

• Conducted site survey and assessed the existing extension structure
• Coordinated with the homeowners to confirm placement and design
• Removed the existing flat roof covering and prepared the opening
• Inspected and repaired existing roof timbers and wall plates where necessary
• Installed steel support beams where required for the glass roof
• Fitted the lean-to glass roof frame and secured to existing wall plates
• Lifted double-glazed roof panels into position
• Sealed all glass-to-glass and glass-to-frame joints with silicone
• Installed integrated gutter system and downpipes
• Applied external flashing for weatherproof sealing
• Completed internal plastering around the roof perimeter
• Installed optional LED lighting track into the framework
• Cleaned all glass thoroughly internally and externally
